Universole Fit

The transition to online shoe sales drives a larger need for shoe fit guidance as there is no opportunity to try on a product. Retailers are impacted by this shift as returns due to fit lead to restocking costs, discounted or even discarded stock. We propose a tool that combines convenience for online shoppers, expert opinions and advanced recommendation algorithms to revolutionize the shoe fitting process. A database of internal shoe dimension measures will be created to improve upon the inadequate and inaccurate generic shoe sizing model. This will be paired with smartphone camera images to generate a 3D model of the foot. Using expert opinions to train the tool, in combination with machine learning to extrapolate the trends, customers will have an at home tool for recommendations on shoe size and model. This will give customers the ability to find the shoe that fits their needs, decreasing the costly rate of return for shoe retailers.
