MyWellSelf.ca receives funding from Haltech and FedDev

December 18, 2020

My Well Self received $15,000 in funding toward growing their digital networking platform (MyWellSelf.ca) from Haltech Regional Innovation Centre, as part of a Digital Main Street project. The Forge alumnus aims to bring together trusted holistic health care providers with consumers who are interested in making informed decisions regarding their wellness journey. The Digital Main Street Community Collaboration Program is focused on bringing together community members to collaboratively identify and solve one or more local main street challenges and is supported by the Government of Canada’s FedDev Ontario’s Regional Relief and Recovery Fund.

“With the rising trend of Canadians seeking out providers of complementary and alternative medicine, MyWellSelf.ca was designed to provide a centralized online platform to help consumers make better informed decisions in holistic health treatment options,” explained Brenda Ahenkorah, founder and CEO of My Well Self.

My Well Self’s platform offers the opportunity to ask questions or search for a holistic health related answer from trusted holistic health providers. Additionally, it provides access to a searchable directory of holistic health care providers including: Naturopaths, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioners, and Registered Holistic Nutritionists.

About My Well Self

My Well Self was founded in 2019 by Brenda Ahenkorah, who was previously CEO of Clinical Trial Referral Network, an Oakville Chamber of Commerce KPMG Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee and Haltech Hi5 Pitch Competition Finalist (2020). MyWellSelf.ca is a centralized digital space that makes it easy for the public to find holistic health providers suited to their health needs. My Well Self provides a database of local and vetted holistic health providers specific to health, treatment and/or location needs. On their platform, the public can perform general research on a health issue, ask a question about a health issue and receive responses from real, trained and vetted providers. By providing a platform for meaningful discussion and exchange of information, users will be more likely to find a provider suited to their own health needs.

About Digital Main Street

Digital Main Street is a program that helps main street businesses achieve digital transformation. The program is built around an online learning platform, structured training programs, and our Digital Service Squad, a team of street-level team members who help main street businesses grow and manage their operations through technology. Digital Main Street was created by the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) with direct support from the City of Toronto. DMS is also supported by a group of strategic business partners, including Google, Mastercard, Shopify, Microsoft, Facebook, and Intuit QuickBooks. A $42.5-million investment from FedDev Ontario and an additional $7.45 million from the Government of Ontario brought together the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas, Communitech, Invest Ottawa, and the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association to expand the Digital Main Street Platform in order to support more businesses to go digital as a response to the impacts of COVID-19.
