Axcessiom Technologies Inc. secured second place at the Accessible Mobility: Towards a Zero-Barrier pitch competition hosted by the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) and General Motors Canada (GM). Shanjay Kailayanathan, founder and product developer, and Hanna Haponenko product design and operations lead, represented Axcessiom in the pitch competition. The Forge client is a software and electronics manufacturing startup that builds intuitive and accessible products while keeping safety, reliability and affordability in mind. The startup’s flagship product is a Driver Assistance System that allows people with disabilities to drive their vehicles safely and effectively.
The pitch competition invited post-secondary students currently enrolled at an Ontario institution to participate in a two-part challenge: (1) to raise public awareness of the mobility barriers that face physically challenged individuals and the elderly in their daily life and (2) to motivate students and researchers to identify and work on innovative user-centric solutions, which can empower these people and handle their mobility barriers.
“I would like to thank the judges for believing in our technology and for supporting us,” said Kailayanathan. “Together we will make a more accessible world, create safer roads and unlock independence for many people!”
