Surgeons have confirmed that dural tears occur because the dura mater enters the Kerrison Rongeurs cutting space, and that separating the bony layer is tricky and unstandardized. Are lifestyle changes the solution? They could be, but spinal stenosis (the antecedent to decompression surgery) is not entirely controllable.
