Simon Woodside is an expert in founding startups and digital healthcare security. He has started and led multiple startups in healthcare software, particularly focused on HIPAA compliance. He enjoys building teams and software, especially for products that need a high degree of reliability.
A serial entrepreneur, Simon founded Semacode, and founded and sold Monolith and MedStack. MedStack, the most recent, raised several VC rounds, employed more than 25 people and served hundreds of customers with its compliance-accelerating cloud platform.
He built MedStack’s program for HIPAA compliance using the ISO 27001 framework, achieving compliance with PHIPA, PIPEDA, and GDPR, and many successful SOC 2 reports. During that time he also built and managed the engineering team.
Simon started his career as an Engineer and Engineering Program Manager at Apple in Cupertino CA. He has run and co-run numerous StartupCamp, Engineers Without Borders, and Hacking Health hackathon events. He plays timpani in the amateur Dundas Valley Orchestra. Simon holds a BMath in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo.
