Longan Vision raises $1.2 MM

August 3, 2019

Congratulations to The Forge client Longan Vision on raising $1.2 MM from the Launch Hub investor group and government partners. Longan Vision is developing an AR/VR system that will help firefighters across the world navigate high-heat high-smoke conditions.

In 2018, Longan Vision won the Forge’s Student Startup Competition and received McMaster University’s Department of Engineering prestigious Summer Tech Entrepreneurship Fellowship (15,000 CAD grant).
Their team has gone on to raise 600,000 CAD Private Investment by Launch Hub and were awarded 200,000 CAD Government Funding via Innovative Solutions Canada Program “Head Up Hands Free Fire Fighting,” and 200,000 CAD from Innovative Solutions Canada Night Vision Ergonomics.

Longan Vision is committed to improving work experience and efficiency for first responders. The core team is made up of a group of McMaster University engineers led by CEO Enzo Jia.

“The Longan Vision system provides enhanced vision and information sharing abilities that allow firefighters to see through smoke, locate victims and find fire sources. By using the live video stream and indoor localization provided by FVS, the commanders can make better decisions and help firefighters,” says Jia.

“It is impressive to see what Longan Vision has achieved in such a short period of time, we look forward to continuing supporting Longan Vision’s growth and assisting them to increase the safety of Firefighters worldwide,” said Monika Yazdanian, Director of the Forge.
