Two Forge clients, Boardball Inc. and EarthOne, have been named finalists in Innovation Factory’s LiONS LAIR pitch competition that gives up-and-coming entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business to a panel of Hamilton’s top business experts and investors. Boardball is a new favourite sport that lowers the barriers to playing volleyball by reducing the extensive setup required so that players can easily play anytime and anywhere. EarthOne plant monitors collect a plant’s important metrics and deliver insights to the user’s phone or computer.
“We’re super excited to be selected as a finalist for LiONS LAIR. This will be a great challenge to help grow our business and an opportunity to learn from mentors and other startups. Boardball is all about making volleyball more accessible and our community continues to grow every day” said Amanda Nguyen co-founder of Boardball. “It’s been so cool to see players level up the sport, and we’re looking forward to leveling up the business with this opportunity.
“The EarthOne team is very excited to be selected as a finalist for LiON’s LAIR,” said Sid Pereira, co-founder of EarthOne. “A lot of us grew up watching Shark Tank and Dragon’s Den, so we look forward to pitching to the Lions and gaining invaluable advice from them. We, at EarthOne, are extremely passionate about bringing science-based plant care technology to a strong community of plant and home gardening enthusiasts.”
The Forge startups will be battling it out with 14 other innovative startups at the “LiONS LAIR Pitch Madness” pitch showdown scheduled to take place on September 28, 2022, in Hamilton, Ontario.
