Longan Vision showcased in Google for Startups Accelerator Demo Day

November 27, 2020

The top startups in the Google for Startups Accelerator Canada accelerator program presented their companies during the virtual Demo Day 2020 event, held on November 26. The Google for Startups Accelerator Canada is a three-month digital program for Seed to Series A technology startups whereby Longan Vision was part of their inaugural cohort. As clients of The Forge, Longan Vision are developing smart goggles to improve work experience and efficiency. They have developed the Fusion Vision System [FVS], an Augmented Reality Smart Visor System combining thermal imaging with augmented reality that could be attached to a firefighter’s helmet, improving their vision in smoky environments.

The Google for Startups Accelerator Canada is designed to bring the best of Google’s products, people and technology to startups across Canada. In addition to mentorship and technical project support, the accelerator also includes workshops focused on machine learning, product design, customer acquisition and leadership development.

“During our customer discovery we met with numerous fire stations and saw there was an urgent need for our technology,” explained Enzo Jia, CEO and co-founder at Longan Vision.  “I remember a fire chief showing me their current hand-held imaging thermal camera, then saying that our prototype is already better than what they are currently using and that our technology would be a game-changer. This is why we are focusing on improving the vision and safety for firefighters.”
