Startup Bootcamp

Each new company that joins The Forge begins their time with us by attending Startup Bootcamp. The two-day, intensive event introduces startup teams to concepts and principles that will be vital to their success.

Startup Bootcamp includes sessions on the law, sales, marketing, attracting investment and grants, team dynamics, and more. It also helps new Forge members get to know each other and Hamilton’s greater innovation ecosystem. Bootcamp includes talks from successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, and industry professionals.

The Forge Enlighten Series

Startups at The Forge have access to a series of networking and learning events called The Forge Enlighten Series. We invite industry experts and experienced entrepreneurs to meet with Forge members and share their experience and advice.

Startup Career Fair

Each year, The Forge and Mohawk College’s SURGE come together to create Hamilton’s only career fair for startups. This event allows startup companies to find talented people to hire in the city, while also helping workers build relationships with local entrepreneurs and find jobs with Hamilton startup companies.

The Forge offers its clients an exclusive Executives-in-Residence program such as with corporate lawyer and engineer Louis Beliveau and tax accountant Janice Savage Cardinali. These sessions teach startups how to lay the groundwork for their company including advising on shareholder’s agreements and corporate structure and setting up payroll taxes.

Other and Partner Programming

Many of our partners, like Innovation Factory and The Mars Discovery District, hold training seminars and networking events as well. Forge clients have access these programs too. Innovation Factory offers a plethora of options: Forge startups can compete in pitch competitions like Synapse and LiON’S LAIR, gain training through programs like The Entrepreneur’s Tookkit and MentorUp, and participate in workshops and Lunch ‘n Learns.

From time to time, we will offer events outside of our regular programming. In the past,  we have organized a pitch day in-front of angel investors, and we have arranged for other events that allow our startup members to share what they’re working on with the public.
